R' Yehuda: Ohel Not Made by Man
The sugya
The shiur finished the source for R' Yehuda's view that an ohel must be made by man, a gezeirah shavah from the Mishkan, against the Rabbanan's ribui from the repeated word ohel. The Gemara then asks a contradiction from a Mishnah in Maseches Parah. The Rebbi read the start of that Mishnah: courtyards in Yerushalayim built on bedrock with a chalal underneath, where children were born and raised for the Parah. He then gave background on why Chazal set up such extreme chumros in Parah Adumah.
Step by step (shakla v’tarya)
- ShitahR' Yehuda holds an ohel must be made by man. He learns it from a gezeirah shavah of ohel-ohel: 'adam ki yamus b'ohel' in parshas Parah Adumah and 'vayifros es ha'ohel al hamishkan'. Just as the Mishkan's ohel was made by man, so too here.
